FOR THE BLACK AUTISTIC ADULT WHO FOUND THE WORD LATER

You finally found the word for what you’ve experienced your whole life.

Now comes the work of understanding what it means for who you were, who you are, and who you’re becoming.

Finding Myself is a guided workbook created specifically for late-identified Black autistic adults navigating identity, masking, burnout, relationships, self-advocacy, and life after discovering you’re autistic.

Available in print and as a fillable digital workbook

Maybe you spent years thinking you were the problem.

You were called difficult.

Sensitive

Rude

Lazy

Too much

Maybe people told you to fix your face. Watch your tone. Stop asking so many questions.

Maybe you learned to study the room before deciding which version of yourself was safe to show.

And somewhere along the way, you learned how to survive without ever having language for why so much of life seemed to require more from you than it did from everyone else.

Then you found the word:  Autistic

And suddenly, pieces of your life started making sense.

This adapts the strongest opening material from the existing preorder page rather than abandoning it.

But finding the word doesn’t automatically help you find yourself.

A diagnosis can give you an explanation.

Self-identification can give you language.

Neither one automatically tells you what to do with the decades that came before.

  • How much of your life did you spend masking?
  • Which parts of you are actually you, and which parts were built to keep you safe?
  • What happens when you start honoring needs you’ve spent years ignoring?
  • How do you explain this to the people you love?
  • Is it safe to unmask at work?
  • What do you do with the grief, anger, relief, or confusion that can come with finally understanding yourself?

That is why Finding Myself was created

This isn’t another book telling you what autism is

It’s a workbook designed to help you understand what autism means in your life.

Finding Myself: A Workbook for Late-Identified Black Autistic Adults is a 200-page guided journey created for Black adults identified as autistic later in life, whether that identification came through a formal evaluation or through your own recognition.

You do not need paperwork to belong here

Instead of giving you information and leaving you to figure out what to do with it, Finding Myself takes you through a structured process of reflection, understanding, and rebuilding.

You’ll revisit the life you lived before you had the word. Explore what changed when autism entered the picture. Examine masking, code-switching, sensory needs, and burnout. Consider what unmasking actually looks like when race, culture, work, family, and safety are part of the equation. Practice communicating what you need. And begin defining who you are now.

The workbook is intentionally structured as an arc rather than a textbook, with 33 worksheets integrated throughout the journey where they’re actually needed.
